Married Forty Years Today.....Ruby Anniversary.

Today is our 40th wedding anniversary. How's that possible when my mind tells me I'm barely 40 years old...I said my MIND...not the calendar. Ha!  The 40th is the RUBY year. Yay!  So if I could do anything - within reason - I would....
  • Get on a RUBY palm (#1) and see if I can rent a classic RUBY colored convertible (#2).  Drive to the nearest RUBY'S Diner (uh...Texas? Woohoo! #3) and have one double huge RUBY milkshake with two straws (#4).
  • We'd drive home with the radio blaring & then I'd soak in a RUBY tub (#5).
  • Next, I'd swath on RUBY lipstick (#6) hoping for a Marilyn Monroe look (#7) rather than a RUBY Ann Boxcar look (#8).
  • After I put my RUBY high heels on (#9) my honey and I would dance by the lake under RUBY lanterns (#10) and stroll home in the moonlight.
  • We'd change into comfy clothes (#11) and hit RUBY Tuesdays for a late salad and dessert (haven't been there in ages #12)....and then see where it goes from there. Yes, that would be a day fit for a king or queen to me (#13).
  • Do you have other RUBY suggestions?

I See Dots Before My Eyes

Polka dots scream "fun" to me. You can't take them too seriously. Seriously. Even when they try to be formal, they look friendly and casual. Did you know they were named after the Polka dance for no other reason than the popularity of the dance? So today we'll give honor to the overlooked, underused Polka Dot! Is anyone else humming, "She wore an itsy-bitsy, teenie-weenie yellow....?"  Photos: carpet on stairs; darling teapot & cup; Cookies to go with the tea from Kiss My Cookies; Shoes (online); Vintage sunglasses; Shower curtain; Chair at Apartment Therapy; and....yeah, you were all ahead on this one!

Canopy or Canape?

I am a sucker for a canopy! It feels *princess-y* to sleep under a billowy canopy.  Therefore, it also seems fitting that servants should bring you breakfast canapes to delicately nibble on....and a fabulous silver pot of steaming coffee with fresh cream on a huge bed tray.  Of course, if this were to ever happen to me, no one could blast me out of that *four poster heaven!*   Here are some canopied beds to "dream" about.  I didn't include Tester Beds which I'll post about another time. Anyone have a canopy bed? Photos are wonderful examples of canopy beds in varied styles that you can just sink into. The last photo is the canape you can sink your teeth into!

Simply Bows

Is there a better symbol of romance and femininity than a classy, beautiful bow? I appreciate a bow the most when it's done in good taste.  Even if it's quite large and dramatic, it can look elegant.  I prefer pure silk, understated satin and self-matching bows to a *frilly hot mess.*  Who else likes them? Does anyone have them in their decor? Photos from top to bottom: Bowed Slip Cover (but any upholstered chair with a bow would be fab)! Any silk pillow with a self-fabric bow would be lovely; Iron bed with bow motif; Looking flirty while walking away...delicious! Bows add drama; Bows finish off a chandelier; A bow done in style~

I'm A Bookie

No, not a bookie as in taking bets, but a person who absolutely adores books!  My honey and i had our our first home that I designed, custom built when we were just 19 years old. It had a built-in, floor to ceiling bookcases in the living room. In our Atlanta home, we had them in the Morning Room and in our Master Bedroom. THAT was luxury!  In fact, we've had them in every home ever since, except our current *lake home* because we ran out of steam. Here are some wonderful examples. Anyone else smitten with them? Photos: all are pretty traditional except the last one...a new, contemporary design that makes it easier to read the titles.

To Infinity and Beyond!

When Disney released *Toy Story* the phrase, "To infinity and beyond" became very popular. Every year we bought our grandchildren one of those inflatable pools with all kinds of slides, sprays and contraptions (they were only good for about a season).  Every time my granddaughter got ready to slide down the pool, she'd say, "To infinity and beyond!"  When I was thinking about her, my mind wandered, focused on INFINITY POOLS. Now that's what I'm talking about! Anyone have one or swam in one? Photos are mostly resorts. Our first infinity pool looked much like the last pool photo.

You ALL expected this! LOL.
