A-Tisket A-Tasket....

I know summer is almost over...and call me crazy but I look forward to picnics in the Autumn more than any other time of year. We have a large picnic basket, but wondered about a new one since mine's been relegated to holding cleaning rags.  I found some baskets that may inspire you to plan an autumn picnic. For us in the Northern Hemisphere, it won't be long until temperatures cool off. Today there are blankets with plastic backs - so no dampness - and I bring classical piano music to play in the background while we eat our feast. Any other Autumn picnic-preferable people? Oval basket; Coffee Time Picnic Basket; Picnic for Two; Cottage Picnic Basket; Picnic Basket for Four; Picnic Tote; Picnic Backpack; Convertible Picnic Basket; Easy to See Basket and a most charming English Tea Picnic Basket!

There is something comforting about a picnic basket, isn't there??? We took one every year to Florida, before the interstates and fast food restaurants. We would find a roadside table and Mom would start unpacking it all. The old red cooler was transported, too, full of balogna, cheese and melted ice, that we would have to drain.
Have a great day, my friend.

I still use the picnic basket that was a wedding gift, 37 years ago. It's not too unlike the one in the first photo. I was touched to see my daughter pack it up, not too long ago, for a picnic with her boyfriend. I have to admit that I like the last photo you posted - a china teapot would be a lovely addition to a picnic - perhaps with a maid or butler along to light the campstove to boil the water?!

Love picnics! I want all the picnic baskets! As I browse through flea markets and antique stores I'm searching for the perfect one for me!

Lovely!
We have a picnic basket just like the 2nd to the last one you featured.

I love picnics too, but picnics here in the fall are not that pleasant because there are too many yellow jackets and no-see-ums (tiny biting flies) to make outdoors enjoyable, despite the eventual-cooler temps. :(

Wow! You found some amazing picnic baskets! We love picnics any time of year, but fall is s special time! We have a small basket lined with green checked fabric that I keep stocked with paper and plastic products, sunscreen and bug spray. I use a cute Trader joe's shopping bag for non cooler items. But I just prefer NOT to use real dishes - I mean, who wants to wash dishes when they get home from a picnic??? :o)

Hope all is well with you!

I love Fall picnics too. Can't wait for this steamy humid summer to end. Great pictures of picnic baskets and get-ups. Diana

Wow that last one is amazing. I love picnics in fall too. I think there is just something about being outside with the leaves changing color and the crisp bite to the air. In October, our picnic is going to a Civil War reenactment at a fort. Something about that sound of cannons going off. :)
My old picnic basket though got used for kids toys that they carried with them. I think I need a new one like in the last picture.
Whatcha think?

Love all the baskets! This is the time they all go on sale, too. I need one, for cleaning rags! ;-D

I love picnics and picnic baskets.
I have one like your next to the last photo. We've used it quite a bit. My husband and I do picnics when we go to the car races or fishing... fun is had by all! :)

I love picnics and have been using the same wicker basket for years. There is just something so comfortable about our tradition.
Have a great weekend...:-)Hugs

I'm partial to the wicker baskets and love the one with the drawer below. Like you, picinics in the fall or spring for me. Too hot in the summer! ~ Sarah

Oh yes, I am raising my hand! Autumn is the BEST picnic time! Love the crisp weather, sweaters, and warm libations! And the scenery... perfection!

The wicker baskets are classics. There is just something about them.

I just did a post on Thursday about a picnic spread I did for an ezine- Belle Inspiration. Come and see this picnic... it is a summer one though! But a picnic none the less.
What an exceptional blog you have.
So beautifully done.
Delighted to know you!

Those are some pretty fancy-schmancy picnic baskets. I'm with you....Fall is a great time for picnics. However, here in Houston, we are going to have to wait a couple of more months before it even remotely begins to feel like REAL Fall!
ps: I think your blog is wicked-awesome...:)

All of the picnic baskets are wonderful, but I like the wicker the best.

i ADORE the last picnic basket and its old set of china. love! and i don't think you're crazy. i actually hate the summer. i'm not a heat person at all. i love fall because you can start feeling a wee bit of that winter bite in the air, but not enough to deter you from going outside. i'm from los angeles, so...our fall is like a very cool summer. wonderful cool temperatures, sunny skies. perfect weather for a picnic. :) if there wasn't so much smog. :(

My goodness, that tea basket is all that and then some! I like picnics too. It's so hot here the spring and fall are better times, too.

Where did summer go?

*cries*

I want one of those plastic-lined blankets, sounds amazing - perfect for our climate! Getting chilly at night, still warm during the day... we haven't eaten outside once this season. For shame.

Thank you for the reminder!

I'm not much of a picnic person at any time of year, but I love your baskets. I have a deep old basket from my grandmother that I cover and use as a small coffee table, with battengerg lace over the top.

For all the picnic I go on you would think I would have one - had one for about 15 years got used so much it had to go to the trash bin - I like # 5 picnic basket but I've been looking on one on wheels.

I have owned some nice picnic baskets but never really used them. We just don't picnic. However I do love baskets and have them all over the house.

A friend and I were just discussing picnics when the temps cool down. These baskets are wonderful! Weird, I guess, but I've never had a picnic basket ~ perhaps this is an opportunity to purchase one.

Thanks for sharing! Your blog is beautiful. I guess I'm your newest follower.

Have a beautiful week!

We'll have to get together someday and have a moviefest.
Take care.

wow a tea party basket! I like that

Love all the picnic baskets!

Your question about PB sofa. I didn't order an extra slipcover. The sales person promised me that you can toss it in the washer and even bleach it. Then, toss it in the dryer and put it back on the sofa while it's still slightly damp. I'll let you now how that works out. Keeping my fingers crossed! lol

Janean,

It's been awhile since we've been on a picnic. I must confess that when we were younger picnics meant hauling the bedroom mattress to the living room on a Friday night :0)*** Now, we enjoy our back patio and food on the grill ~

big hug kimmie-pooh!

I think I like number 6 - the tote. I bet it is $$$$!!!!

It is cooler in the fall - that is why I'd like it better. Not a sun worshiper!

Have fun.
