The Yellow Rose of Texas....

Did I just see my Texas friends throw their sweet lil' ol' hand over their lil' ol' hearts when they read my title? I don't know any of the words to this old song, but I was humming the melody yesterday and  wondered what kind of yellow rose decor ideas I could come up with. I matched the yellow with gray for a fresher take. Anyone born, lived or want to move to Texas?  Yellow Rose Cake Stand; Yellow Rose Brooch, Etsy; Yellow Shutters - Canada by Altered Schoolmarm; Yellow Rose with Tea Set; Yellow Cabinet & Gray Rug - Country Living; Yellow Rose Chair; Yellow Door with Barn Door Hardware; Yellow & Gray Sun room; Yellow KitchenAid and Dale Evans performing "The Yellow Rose of Texas!"

Janean,

Like the cake stand. Do you know designers are predicting yellow will be next year's "hot color" (like aqua is this year's)

Deborah

Beautiful....ever so beautiful. From this Texan blogging buddy, you did a bang-up job of it all.

The real yellow rose of Texas was a woman.

Enjoyed this immensely.

I dooo love my yellow in small splashes!!

And as for the song.....

There's a yellow rose in Texas, that I am going to see.
Nobody else could miss her not half as much as me.
She cried so when I left her, it like to broke my heart.
And if I ever find her, we nevermore will part.

She's the sweetest little rosebud that Texas ever knew.
Her eyes are bright as diamonds, they sprinkle like the dew.
You may talk about your Clementine and sing of Rosalee.
But the yellow rose of Texas is the only girl for me.

One of our fav's here in the South.
Hope you enjoy!!

Hugs Cindy from Rick-Rack and Gingham

Woo hoo.....born in Texas and never lived anywhere but the great state of Texas, I'm proud to say the least!

Yellow is one of my favorite colors, it's so bright and cheerful. I have very little yellow in our house, but I love it anyway.

Those are great yellow pictures.... My favorite is the altered picture ... the house with yellow shutters and yellow flowers....
Hugs,

I loved everything you posted...and I am not a "yellow" person per se but..wow! Those shots are gorgeous. I especially love that cake stand although the yellow shutters run a close second. Thanks from a NON-Texan-lol Diana

Good Morning Janean! I LOVE yellow...never thought I did until I decided to paint the walls in the farmhouse 3 different shades of it. It worked out perfectly! I LOVE those shutters on the stone house...I've never seen anything like that before. The barn door to the bathroom would be something I would go for if I lived in a restored barn or a post and beam home. Love your photo choices. I looked your last photo over and over to see Dale Evens but I do see Roy Rogers who I loved just as much. Happy Trails to you my friend...have a great day! Maura :)

I'm not much of a "yellow" person, but I love the mustardy look of the shutters!

I'm and Idaho girl through and through - I've been to Texas, and it is grand, but Idaho is where I belong! The Yellow Rose of Texas, was one of my fathers favorite songs, I think Bob Wills sang a version of it!!

Here is the chorus:

She's the sweetest little rosebud That Texas ever knew,
Her eyes are bright as diamonds, They sparkle like the dew;
You may talk about your Clementine, And sing of Rosalee,
But the YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS Is the only girl for me.

Hugs,
Barb

how lovely and uplifting. i've often heard
designers say that we need a splash of
black in every room. i think the same
could be true of yellow. it brightens every
corner.

i live north of texas and southwest of
you, and my nephew will be attending
one of your state universities.

blessings,

That yellow sliding door is just awesome! although I wouldn't use it for a bathroom like they did... um... unless it's really, really snug and tight and soundproof... LOL!

I've never been to Texas - yet. Are yellow roses taboo there?!

Oooh, love it all! Those shutters match my front door (which always makes me happy when I arrive home). My barns are also a softer shade of yellow. That cake stand is my dream! I have much to explore at your gorgeous blog and so appreciate that you took the time to visit "li'l ol me!"

I love that cake stand and oh, that yellow cabinet makes me drool even though yellow is my least favorite color. You make it rise higher, my dear. And I know all the words to Yellow Rose of Texas.

Janean, I was born here and have lived in TX all 62 years. :-)
Have to say I considered doing a post on The Yellow Rose of TX, but opted for the little yellow peachicks. I already had photos of them. So guess you could say I took the easy road.
All of your yellow accents are glorious. I'm a longtime fan of yellow. It makes me smile! ~ Sarah

I do love yellow -- I really like number 3 photo - I would of loved to photograph that shot of that building myself or even design something like that to build - can red and yellow work together -- I can't see it working with those two colors. I want a red barn but I am in love with yellow shutters too! My be I will go for a gray barn and put yellow shutters -- umm -- don't know - wink..

Wow! Nean, awesome pairs ~ yellow & gray, it totally works. I was about 12 years old when I met Dale Evans... he gave me his autograph and I was star struck :) In my heart, I guess I will always have that cow-girl deep inside ~ Kimmie

My grandmother was from Texas and was always singing that song. I lived in the Dallas area for two years and loved it.

The image of the yellow shutters made me swoon!
